There are nine modules within the course:

Module One:

The role of the Bookkeeper, the diffrence between capital , asset and laibilities,the dual effect of transactions and double entry system, the accounting equation, the diffrence between cash and credit transaction, preparing simple balance sheets and indentify transactions in the ledger aacount.

Module Two:

The purpose ad the step used in account.accounting system, different businesses document used for sales and puchases, the purpose of coding and the different coding systems.

Module Three:

The basic principles of Value Added Tax, calculating VAT, constructing sales invoices, trade and cash discount, posting sales invoice to General ledger .

Module Four:

Checking purchase invoice for accuracy, credit notes, posing purchase invoices and credit notes to General ledger the purpose of the purchases Day Book, posting an analysed Day Book to General ledger and purchases ledger.

Module Five:

purpose of an Analysed Sales Day Book , making posting to General ledger and Sales ledger , Return Day Books, identifying debit and credit entries using Day books confidently and accuretly.

Module Six:

The Cash Book ,processing Cash Book payment and receipts, balancing the Cash Book, preparing and posting list, and the purpose of redit note to reflect prompt payment discount, using the discounts receive and discount allowed day books , preparing a 2 colounm Cash Book.

Module Seven:

Why the petty Cash Book is used , processing petty Cash payments and receipts, balancing the petty Cash Book, preparing a cheque requistion.

Module Eight:

Using a Posting list to update the Genral Ledger, updating and sales and purchase ledger from the Cash Book, balancing ledger accounts, posting balance from a lists.

Module Nine:

The purpose of trial balance, preparing a trial balance, demonstrating to ability to maintain day books, prepare ledger balances and extract trial balance.

Once you ahve successfully completed the end of course assessment, you will gain a Pitman Training Bookkeeping Certificate. With further study and by undertaking the relavent examinations, you could gain an AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping (Level 2 ) Qualification.
